Hello,
Baby John came to the baby center in December of 2008. He was just a few weeks old. This picture was taken by Jamie Lengacher when he visited Kenya in January 2009. Please pray for John to find a mommy and daddy.

Water: Almost There!

We received word that we are at 105 meters (344 ft.). We have a steady supply of water and should be at the correct depth within the next few days!!! We expect a phone call sometime over the next two days to announce the drilling has ceased and we are ready to hook up the wellhead. Once the drilling has stopped we will be ready to construct a small pump house. The brick material to build the pump house was donated by the lady we bought the land from. She has become a great friend to the baby center. God has been so good in supplying us everything we need on this project. Continue to pray for wisdom as we begin the next phase in this project.

Water: Through the Rock!

As we approach Thanksgiving God has given us another reason to be thankful at the Baby Center. We have drilled through the hard-pan and the water level has stayed consistent. The Ministry of Water representative assured us that is exactly what we wanted and that he is confident we have a long, sustainable source of water for many years to come. Since Kenya does not have a Thanksgiving holiday they will be drilling the rest of the week. We are at 94 meters (308'). We believe we have a little less than 100' to go. When you stop to give thanks tomorrow remember all the "throw away" children of Kenya and be thankful for all our Father has given us. This mission of "saving the least of these" has never meant more to me than it does right now. God Bless

Water: In His Time

As of today we have drilled 80 meters (262 ft.). We have hit some hard-pan which was expected. While this slows the drilling process we have been assured that we are still on target to hit a major water source. We have consistently been in a large water vien since drilling past 160 feet. We should have a better understanding of how much longer it will take after Tuesday. I thank each of you for praying for this project. I'm confident we will have the source of water that God intended.

Water: Flow River Flow

I'm reminded of the song Shine Jesus Shine after hearing from Billy Fuller and Staci Ketter today. "Flow river flow flood this nation with grace and mercy". While I want His grace and mercy to flow throughout the world I have also been asking for water to flow where we are drilling. He is answering the prayers. We have drilled 213 feet and have been in a water vein since passing 160 feet. I'm trying to not get too excited as I've put the cart before the horse many times before but it looks very good right now. We will continue drilling Thursday and Friday. The water ministry of Kenya wants us to be around the 400 ft. mark to ensure we have a sustainable water source. They will install the wellhead Saturday and pump water to see how viable and clean the water source is. We are so close to realizing one of the dreams for the baby center. Keep the prayers flowing and He will provide!!

Rony - October 2008

Rony was just a little over a year old when the work team from NMC came to the baby center in October 2008. These pictures were taken by Tracy & Kaylynn Bussard. Eric was 4 months old when the October NMC work team arrived in Kenya. He is starting to be awake and respond more. In this picture, Pete Carpenter is holding Eric. He is such a cutie!

Water: Gaining Ground One Meter at a Time!

We passed the 49 meter mark at 8 AM Indiana time. That is around 160 feet. We should pass the halfway point Wed. the 19th. I'm told we are in soft clay material and things should move a little quicker the rest of the week. Confident in He who is Able!

Water: Slow but Steady

I recieved an email from Margie around noon our time today. (7pm in Kenya) She reported that all the electric was run to the well property today. The poles and transformer have been set. The only thing to do with the electric is the distribution box needs set and hooked up. Having the utility company show up today meant that drilling did not start until late this afternoon. When they finished for the day they reached 38 meters. (124 feet) The driller believes he can punch through using the equipment they are currently using. This will save us time as to set up another rig would add another week to the process. I'm learning patience all over again and that God is in control. We will have water in His time which is fine with me. Continue to pray for Staci, Margie and Steve Henry as they continue to do His work in Kenya.

Water: Pictures of Well Drilling from Margie

I talked with our Kenya partners concerning the well progress this morning. We are drilling but the process is going slow. If the well driller does not make significant progress today he will bring in heavier machinery on Monday to speed up the process. We are currently closing in on 100 feet at this time. I've realized again that God's timing is perfect and I must wait and trust Him. I will continue to keep you posted on the progress being made.

Angel Abigail - October 2008

The October work team from NMC found angel wings when they were cleaning out the storage room. They decided to dress up the girls in pretty dresses and angel wings to make an Angels of AGC Calendar. Abigail was too little to fit into the flowergirl dresses from Shadrach's wedding so we found a little Christmas dress for her to wear. She wasn't super excited about this whole idea, but we were able to get some cute pictures of her anyway!

Water: News on the well from Jamie per Margie

The process has finally started. The well driller began drilling today and just passed 70 ft. as of 7:30 AM this morning Indiana time. We should know very soon if we will have a sustainable water supply. Keep praying for this project. Pray specifically for Billy Wayne Fuller. Billy has been a WGM missionary for a long time in Kenya. He has taken the lead on this project for NMC and has been outstanding. We value Billy and his wife Jenny who have become dear friends of NMC.

Angel Hannah - October 2008

The October work team from NMC found angel wings when cleaning out the storage room. They decided to take angel pictures of each of the girls. Hannah was totally unsure about the whole idea and towards the end vocalized it quite loudly! We were able to get a few decent shots but wish we could have made her more at ease so she would have really shown what a sweet little angel with a beautiful smile she actually is!

We have a new baby Abigail!

These pictures of Abigail were taken by various team members from NMC when they were in Kenya in October 2008. She arrived at the baby center at the end of September. Abigail is a quiet, smiley little girl whom everyone falls in love with! The picture to the right is of Abigail holding Abigail! Above is Abigail with Stephanie.

Baby Paul had just arrived at the baby center when the NMC Work Team came in October 2008. He was such a tiny baby. The other children all loved giving their new "brother" hugs and kisses!

Moses (Mo Mo) - October 2008

One of my favorite pictures of Mo Mo is the one above. It just shows the emotion and heartbreak of the orphan. Mo Mo is such a great little guy and he will make a wonderful son for someone. Please pray that Moses and all of the little ones at the baby center find a place to call home.

Water: Note from Jamie

I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone at NMC, NLF and beyond for the support they have given to the baby center. God has taken us on an unbelievable ride over the last two years. We have went from having very little vested in this project to being heavily vested. God has taken ordinary individuals and given them a burning passion for the “throw away children” of Kenya. NMC has went from having a very small voice to having one that is being heard in board and leadership meetings. One of our goals has been to create income streams to help sustain the center within Kenya. Over the next year the water and farm projects will be monumental in reaching the goal. We should have a well drilled within the next week and be on our way planting more cash crops at the farm. Things are happening quickly and I’m honored to be a part of it. There are so many of you who need a big THANK YOU! I knew our church was generous but I never understood how generous. Even in the most depressed economic times many of us have ever seen the resources keep coming in. God is good all the time! I will keep the blog updated on the water progress. I cannot wait for that first load of water to be delivered FREE! One of my greatest pleasures during this project has been watching new team members develop “baby center fever”. Its not a bad thing but an anointing of the holy spirit on them. Watching people of all walks of life get their hands dirty for these little ones is a God thing. We have people who pay for their own trips, people who get support from others, people who sell their cows to come, people who save for years to come. The point is if you are willing He will provide. I want to thank our most recent team for making our trip one to remember. When you laugh and cry together you develop quite a friendship. We have a new baby - Eric!

Eric had just arrived at the baby center before the September team arrived. Eric was the newest baby at the baby center so he was the one selected to be held by former President Moi at the dedication ceremony. Although David kind of made sure the former President noticed him as well! Eric is a sweet little guy and is around 3 months old.

These pictures were taken by the October 2008 Work Team from NMC when they found wings in the storage room at the baby center. The pictures were then used to make AGC Angels calendars and ornaments in December at church. She is certainly a beautiful little angel!

We have a new baby - Isaiah!

Baby Isaiah came to the baby center right before the NMC October work team arrived. He was so tiny and sweet and the other kids loved giving him kisses!

Water: Thank You New Life Fellowship!

The following is an article written for NMC's July 2008 Newsletter. It is the first time the water project was mentioned to the church body. In the next several days I will post more about what God has done to provide the babies with water.

Water was a big deal to Jesus. In fact his first miracle involved turning water into wine at a wedding feast. He walked on it to teach his disciples about faith. He offered “Living Water” to the woman at the well. The Old Testament is also filled with miracles involving water. And followers of Jesus continue to be baptized by water to this day.

Water is also a big deal to the baby center. They use it to bathe the babies, to wash their clothes and diapers, to cook their food and to satisfy their thirst. Yet there is no water to be found on the baby center property. We continue to pray that God would miraculously fill the well that has been dug. Until then, all of the water is trucked in daily from nearby Nakuru. The team members who were there during the riots in December can tell you, not receiving that daily shipment is a BIG DEAL! Quickly it can become a serious situation when the trucks are unable to deliver. It is also a significant expense to the baby center to purchase the water. Because of this, several NMC’ers (Verle Hochstetler, Bernie Lambright, Dan Jacobs and Jamie Lengacher) have been working to come up with an alternate solution. Property about 7 km from the baby center is available for purchase. This property has a viable well. The plan is for the baby center to purchase this property as well as a tractor and tank. The center can then provide all of the water they need from their own source. Not only would this save them the cost of purchasing water, it might also become a source of income for them. They could possibly sell extra water to the surrounding community. They might also be able to rent out their tractor and driver to surrounding farmers. These plans continue to be finalized but all of those involved are excited about the possibilities. When Chuck Christner and Steve Cross from New Life heard about the project they wanted their church to become involved also. New Life Church has committed a significant amount of money towards the purchase of the tractor which is one of the biggest expenses in this project. Anyone who is interested in learning more about how they can help provide water for the babies can contact any of the men above for more information. The biggest obstacle to adding more babies to the baby center family is being able to provide for their needs. Just think how many more babies can be saved by solving the water situation!

The baby center is now at 27 babies. Baby Mary W. went home with her adopted Kenyan mother during the second week in June. Everyone will miss her beautiful smile and sparkling eyes but rejoices that she has found her own family. We were deeply saddened to hear that Baby Moses Kiptoo, who came to the baby center earlier this year, went home to be with Jesus on June 17, 2008. When he came to the center, they became aware he had a heart problem. The cardiologist felt it was something he would outgrow. Earlier this month though he became very sick and was admitted to the hospital. He seemed to improve but then took a turn for the worse. After many prayers, God chose to heal him completely in heaven. This is the second baby lost in less than a year at the center. Baby Moses will be buried next to Baby Abigail on the baby center farm. Please continue to pray for Staci and the staff as they grieve. And continue to pray for this ministry as they work to provide health and a home to the smallest and most vulnerable of God’s children in Kenya.

Matthew is now about 3 months old. He is still a pudgy cheeked little guy! Matthew was very serious but he cooperated really well when we made him model the onesies the Jesus Freaks group at church made for the Kenyan babies. Please continue to pray for Matthew that he will find a family of his own. And more importantly that he will come to know Jesus as his personal savior and grow up to be a man of God.

Simon - December 2007

Simon was about 10 months old when the NMC work team came to Kenya in December 2007. Simon always looks like he is thinking and studying everything around him. He will probably grow up to be a scientist or professor!

Silas - December 2007

Baby Silas was around 10 months old when the NMC work team came to Kenya in December 2007. He was so cute and quite serious! Silas did laugh a lot when we played the game "don't let the shoe fall off your head"! Although you can't tell it in the top picture! And we got a smile when he received a kiss from Brittany! This trip made us really realize how incredibly vulnerable each little one is. As we cared for the babies in the safety of the baby center walls, outside of those walls Kenya had erupted into a chaotic and sometimes violent country. We prayed that the trouble caused by the presidential election would soon pass and that none of these precious children would have to feel the effect of what was going on around them! We also prayed for the safety of all of the caregivers and construction workers as they traveled to and from the baby center and while they were in their homes.
