Swine Flu!

The swine flu has hit in Kenya. We received word that several schools around the Ngata area have been closed because of it. Please be in prayer for the health of our babies. The caregivers and staff at the baby center are being extra cautious to avoid bringing it in. Please pray that the illness passes thru the Ngata area quickly and it's victims recover fully!

Isaiah has a family!

Baby Isaiah went home with his new family yesterday. We praise God for him and pray everyone adjusts well. This means we are at 31 babies!

We have THREE new babies!

Triplets were born at Tenwek hospital recently. And today they came to the baby center. We are thrilled to welcome baby Caleb, baby Lydia and baby Ben to our family! These three bring our number at the baby center to 32! That's a record high! I will post more pics when they become available!

Immanuel is walking!

Just heard from the baby center that Immanuel started walking this week! Margie Helmuth provided a picture of him "in action"! The new WGM treasurer for Kenya, Cason Wittig and his wife Colleen have also been busy taking pictures at the baby center. They gave me permission to use their pictures and I'm so excited because they are both gifted at taking photos that capture the unique personalities of the babies!

We have a new baby - Ida!

Ida came to the baby center at around 11 months. She is struggling a little bit adjusting and hasn't quite warmed up to her new surroundings yet. At her age the adjustment is harder because she is more aware that everything is different than what she is used to. Please pray that she will start to feel safe and loved very soon!

We have a new baby - Mark!

Baby Mark came to the baby center a couple of weeks ago. This picture was sent by Margie. Gotta love those chubby cheeks!

Painting fingernails - Video

Alyssa painted the little girls at the baby center's fingernails. The boys were quite interested and wanted their fingernails painted too. So Alyssa painted one fingernail on each of the boys so they weren't left out. Notice Mesh in the background after Alyssa told him to "blow on it"!

We have a new baby - Teresia!

Baby Teresia came to the baby center at the very end of July. She brought the chicken pox with her! She had to be quarantined in Nicole Greenlee's apartment until she was no longer contagious! So far none of the babies have gotten them - Praise God!

Timothy - June 2009

Timothy has grown into such a sweet adorable toddler! He can't help but smile and when he does he has the biggest dimples in his cheeks! The caregivers call Timothy Timo which is pronounced tee-mo. We continue to pray for Timothy to find a home of his own!

We have a new baby - Faith!

Baby Faith is the third of the three little girls that arrived at the baby center at the end of July. She was around 3 months old. With the arrival of several girls and the adoptions of several boys, the nursery is no longer dominated by little boys! Please pray that Faith quickly adjusts to life at the baby center and continues to grow strong and healthy.

We have a new baby - Deborah!

Deborah is one of the three new little girls who came together to the baby center at the end of July. She was around 4 months old. Please pray that a Kenyan family will listen to God's urging and bring Deborah home as their daughter.

We have a new baby - Elizabeth!

Actually we have a bunch of new babies! Elizabeth is one of three girls that arrived at the baby center at the same time. She is around 4 months old and arrived at the end of July.

Meshack - Video

Meshack always called Jamie Babu which we knew meant grandpa. But this time he also added Jenga. We couldn't figure out what he was saying until Mwangi (who works at the baby center) said "He's calling you a builder". So to Mesh Jamie's name is always Grandpa Builder!

We just received the news that baby Matthew has gone home with his new family. What a cause for rejoicing. He will just love the attention and love he will receive as someone's son. Please pray that God will generously bless his new family for opening their hearts and their home to Matthew!

Matthew has grown so much! He is a strong and healthy little guy! He loved playing in the learning center. The picture above shows him with New Life Team Member Jan Schrock. He also loves to eat! He is the one closest to the camera in the picture above of the row of kids drinking their ugi (kinda like cocoa wheats!).

Malachi really didn't like having his feet painted in order to make a footprint! Poor little guy! The footprints came out great though!

Jeremiah - June 2009

Baby Jeremiah has changed his looks so much since the NMC team was at the baby center in March of this year. He is now a solid and strong little guy. The top picture is of New Life team member, Phyllis Metzler, and Jeremiah. Of course Phyllis loved all of the babies at the baby center, but she was especially partial to Jeremiah!

Baby Jesse has made such a miraculous recovery since coming to the baby center. He has a sweet content personality and loves to "talk"!

Isaac - June 2009

Isaac was just a little over 2 1/2 years when the New Life Team visited the baby center in June 2009. Isaac tends to be very quiet. Although, he showed a lot more of his personality this time. I love the picture with the huge grin! He also was very firm in his decisions when he didn't want to do something! We continue to pray that Isaac will be adopted by loving christian parents.

Just saw the following post on facebook from WGM:

WorldGospel Mission Kenya is in need of rain as crops are beginning to fail. The rains ended early and many families are facing prolonged famine as a result of the drought conditions. Please pray for God’s divine intervention.

The baby center well continues to provide water for the babies, our crops and the surrounding community at this time.

Jessica Video

Jessica was only a few months old when the New Life team visited the baby center in June 2009. She is a very happy baby as you can see in this short video. She was even happy when you wiped her nose! Jessica was battling a bad cold the whole time we were there!

Meshack - June 2009

Meshack is utterly and completely Jamie's boy. He calls him Babu(Grandpa). And wants to be with him every second. If Jamie is working inside the fence, Meshack is right there with his hand on Jamie's leg or arm and his face right down where the work is being done. I wouldn't be surprised if Meshack grew up to be a fundi (expert craftsman) as he is so interested in all things construction. He also loved working with his hands in the learning center. Although he decided to mix several colors of play dough together! I'm not sure how good of a reader he will be (notice his book is upside down in the picture below)! When Meshack gets adopted there will be one awfully sad Babu here in America!

Joy - June 2009

Joy has continued to grow and get stronger each day. Yet she is still a tiny thing! The caregivers thought she looked like April Hershberger who is there working this summer - and she kind of does! She and April are in the picture above. In the picture at the top, Joy is being kissed by team member Brittany Lengacher.
